Define quality for the actual construction
A braided jute rug, a flatwoven cotton runner and a tufted wool rug should not be judged as though they were the same product. Each construction has its own visual character, tolerances and finishing requirements.
Quality begins with knowing what the material and technique are supposed to produce.
Dimensions matter
Rug size is one of the most important practical details in online selling. Handmade processes and natural materials can create modest dimensional variation, and some cotton constructions can change after washing.
We therefore treat dimensions as a product fact that deserves clear communication rather than a decorative line in the description.
Surface, edge and visible finish
Before packing, the visible surface, edge condition and overall finish should make sense for the design and construction. Handmade variation may remain visible, but avoidable issues should not be hidden behind the word “artisan”.
This distinction is particularly important in shaped rugs and long runners, where edge rhythm and alignment are easy to see.
Photography and expectation
Quality control also includes the accuracy of what the customer was shown. Colour can vary across screens and natural materials can shift with light, but product imagery and descriptions should still aim to represent the rug honestly.
We prefer useful material notes and clear handmade-variation guidance to exaggerated promises of perfect uniformity.
Packing is the final quality step
A rug that leaves production in good condition can still arrive poorly if the packing is unsuitable. International experience has made us attentive to the final physical stage: preparing the piece for a long journey through carrier networks and different environments.
